Iredell House

George Washington appointed Iredell to the first U.S. Supreme Court.

Originally incorporated in 1715 as "The Towne on Queen Anne's Creek", Edenton is a town rich in architecture and history since pre-Revolutionary times. The Chowan County Courthouse (1767) is one of the finest Georgian courthouses in the South. These buildings, along with other homes, stores, and churches, are seen as a part of the Historic Edenton tour by trolly, which begins at the nearby visitor center.
