The NC Botanical Gardens (supported by the State of North Carolina and the Botanical Garden Foundation, Inc.) is a center for Plant Conservation is a consortium of 30 US gardens that hold the National Collection of Endangered Species.
The main visitor's tour of the main visitor site on Old Mason Farm Road provides a glimpse of the plants, places, and people which combine to make us the garden we are. The collections contain representatives of the approximately 4,700 species of plants native and naturalized in North and South Carolina, as well as herbs and horticultural plants from all over the world. They exemplify the Garden's mission of interpreting biological diversity, as well as its focus on conservation of the region's natural habitats.
