Pamlico was formed in 1872 from Craven and Beaufort counties. It was named after the sound of the same name. It is in the eastern section of the State and is bounded by Pamlico Sound, Neuse River and Craven and Beaufort counties.2
The Pine Tree is the most abundant tree in North Carolina. In the early days of North Carolina History, the pine tree was used to make turpentine and other naval products.
