In 1734, Bladen was formed from New Hanover County. It is in the southeastern section of the State and is bounded by Sampson, Pender, Columbus, Robeson and Cumberland counties.²

Additional County History

There are five lakes in the chain known as the Bladen Lakes. They are thought to have been formed at the same time - through either a prehistoric meteor shower or a glacier run rampant. White Lake is crystal clear, making it a popular summer tourist attraction.³
